The Woolshire was founded by Chase and Sierra Hill after a frustrating search for a truly organic mattress for their firstborn. Disappointed by deceptive greenwashing claims and the lack of transparency in overseas manufacturing, they set out to create something they could trust—starting with pillows. By sourcing local sheep’s wool and American-grown organic cotton, they built The Woolshire on the belief that what you sleep on for a third of your life should be as pure as possible. Nestled in northern Idaho, where they are raising their family in a home they built themselves, the Hills are on a mission to restore American craftsmanship, strengthen domestic infrastructure, and establish The Woolshire as an iconic American heritage brand.
The Woolshire is redefining organic bedding by committing to 100% American-grown, organically certified materials and taking full control of the process. Unlike most brands, they are vertically integrating by acquiring their own wool mill to process the fiber into the high-quality batting used in their pillows. Their cotton is not only USDA-certified organic but also “virgin,” meaning it is free from industry-standard treatments like formaldehyde, bleach, and dyes. This results in cotton that retains its natural sweetness and subtle variations in color—a true mark of purity. Their locally sourced wool is cleaned using only biodegradable soap and hot water before being carded into plush, breathable batting.
